The Boomtown Rats: Having My Picture Taken

Track of the Week - 2 May 2021

It's been driving licence renewal time this week.

Ordinarily I could have done it all online and hooked the photo part of the ID up to my passport. Except my passport expired last year and I saw no point in renewing it as we can't travel anywhere. Heigh ho.

So it was off to a Post Office so I could get my picture taken. They had a fancy dan photo booth where the cashier could adjust the lens height from behind her screen and I had to say it was in the right place despite having to take my glasses off for the picture. It all turned out alright in the end.

Having My Picture Taken is from Irish new wave/power pop band The Boomtown Rats' third album, 1979's The Fine Art of Surfacing. There's a lot of good stuff on the album but I'm not sure how well this one has lasted.
