Track of the Week - 30 December 2018
I'm not one for the whole New Year business but after a very different year with losing my dad and not working, I can't help but be a bit reflective.
Von Südenfed's 2007 album Tromatic Reflexxions was playing in my car a lot during the first half of the year and was a help to me on my many journeys to and from hospitals and care homes. Von Südenfed were a collaboration between Mouse on Mars and Mark E Smith, who also left us this year. (I wrote about that here and have also been blogging about his work with The Fall.)
While Dearest Friends is far from the best track on the record* it fits the bill for this feature.
It can apply to people who I like that don't get to see so much since leaving work, or people who are no longer with us.
Here are some of those who influenced or entertained me who have headed to that 'undiscovered country' this year..
Cyrille Regis
Jimmy Armfield
Ray Wilkins
Eric Bristow
Jlloyd Samuel
Denman
Vader
Jim Neidhart
Stan Lee
Dynamite Kid
Pete Shelley
June Whitfield
(I expect I've left some out. I didn't mean to.)
Right, that's enough reflection. See you in 2019. Happy New Year.
* If I need a track about a bat or a rhino then you'll hear them at their best.
